Project Description
This project created an integrated education model for qualifications in the social sector. With this, the European project partners bravely took an important step into the right direction: They made it possible for people with learning difficulties to have a job in social services, and developed a pedagogical assistant training in disability care. People with disabilities now have the chance to work as assistants.
In September, 2009, four people with learning difficulties started their integrated training as inclusive care workers at the Caritas Steiermark Center for Social Professions. Their training took two years to complete and qualified the participants for the assistance and support of people with disabilities.
In Austria, other schools for social professions in various locations are currently interested in implementing this training.
The results of the project were nominated for the » lifelong learning award 2010.
Project handbooks in German, English, Polish, Italian, and Spanish are available upon request.
